In the posts previously I have addressed the issue of foster homes. And I am assuming I am the last believer on this planet because I cannot tell you how many people started advising me against it. In my eyes full of surprised people used such ridiculous arguments, starting with that I will get bugs in my hair from those “filthy kids” up to that they will steal and sell everything valuable from my house. This was just much more than I was ready to hear.

I couldn’t believe it actually. There is always a risk of “bad” genes or misbehaviour but isn’t that in any kid anyway? How come my glowing eyes, clean and well dressed child gets to be called “filthy” just because they had a misfortune to be bornin a famliy which was unable to take care of them? I swear to God, I woudl slap those people to wake them up if I could.

So finally, in the middle of May, the real weather arrived. Not just some 17-19 degrees of warmth but the real 24-27 degrees of summer heat. The kind of perfect weather when you can see heat waving above the surface of the asphalt, colours bright and pulsing. The kind of weather when you simply cannot stay indoors and the only thing that keeps you alive in the office despite the lunch break ice-cream delight, is a vision of a hammock hanging over the view of a calm and quiet lake. At least that is the only thought that I have, while at work! 🙂

And of course, no better time to plan the holidays than summer! So many destinations, so many places to see, so many things to discover! I have seriously patiently waited all year for a good vacation and now I am more than ready to go. The only question is where??

“This time, I want to go some place different, really different”, I thought at first. Travelling to another continent would be an incredible experience. But later, after considering the amount of time that I will actually get off from work and regarding the budged, travelling that far doesn’t seem like a good idea for now. If I’d go somewhere that far, I would like to really stay, hang out, travel around the place in order to not only see things but to get a sense of the place.  For this reason, I would like to reserve not less than 3 weeks to travel some place in another continent. Knowing that I will only be able to take 5-10 days off from work, I decided to stay in Europe.

But Europe, is a large place too, you know! 🙂 That’s not as easy as it seems to select where to go. Europe itself is very colourful, you get all different cultures if you travel to different regions. I have already visited  Poland, Check Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, Hungary, Austria and England. I spent weeks or even months in some of these countries while travelling, studying or working. Sweden, Italy, Belgium and England are among the lucky ones. But for some others , like Austria or Hungry, I had only 2-3 spare days to run around the sightseeing routes to see a bit of its sparkling beauty. So it would also be a good idea to go back to those places to explore them again, to refresh the things that are already knows and to discover the cultural riches in-depth. Will do that sometime for sure! But now, my heart is seeking for something new, something totally unfamiliar…

Where: Villa in Pilaitė, Vilnius.

So guys, what is your advice? Where should I go?? I was thinking just for now to avoid the popular West Europe destinations like Spain ,France or Portugal. Not because I am not interested but because I am willing to explore something more exotic. I was thinking about heading somewhere towards the Balkan region. I am totally open culture/race/ climate/ ethnicity wise so feel free to name some bizarree places to go to.

Has anyone been any place there and found that it is a heaven on earth? Or perhaps some of you live there and you could tell me all about the fantastic places I should visit? In any case, I am looking forward to read your opinion at the comments below or in my inbox at dressupforme{at}yahoo.com. Maybe you know places that I should be adviced against visiting? Or places too dangerous to go to? Please let me know about that too!

Have yourselves a lovely, sizzling, adventurous and inspiring beginning of summer! 🙂

Yours truly,

Valentines is one of the many occasions when I am undecided and I am able to support both parties: the ones that cover themselves in hearts from head to toe and also those, who do nothing and hate even calling Valentines day a special occasion. And so every year I act depending whether I miss romance or not. Valentines day was a big deal in my life when I was a child and a teenager: sending post cards via ‘Cupids’ Post Office’ at school; exchanging secret angels’ gifts… Years of experience in this field now allows me to share the most intriguing items from my secret box under the label “LOVE”. 🙂

Jeans: Zara.

Shoes: QQQ.

Blouse: H&M.

Scarf: Seppala.

Earings: Marks& Spenser.

Ring: Seppala.

OMG Item: “This time I’d definitely go for the ring . I find it so wonderfully made : it’s a very cute statement piece and together with it you have a very little need or none at all to accessories anything else. Although it’s quiet a big item, it doesn’t have any sharp unfinished edges that could break materials, for example catch tights or get stuck into knitted materials. Also, irrelevant to its size, the ring is very light and comfortable to wear. When I saw it in Seppala (which lately has gotten my full attention – really improved the quality and the service) I felt as if I was tickled! Could this get any cutter?? ;)”

A written love letter or at least a love post card is something very special, to which every detail becomes important: the selection of words, the size and the shrift of the letters as well as your hand-writing manner. The days come and go, years rush by so fast and later  for me there is no greater joy that browsing through my letter box and reading the cute lovely Valentines wishes that my classmates and friends once send me.

Where: “Coffee Inn”, Gediminas avenue, Vilnius.

Not yet written to me but have impressed me a lot as a very touching, very smart and loving expression of feelings. Here is my favorite love letter:

To : Antonie Brentano

“Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us – I can live only wholly with you or not at all.

– Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits

– Yes, unhappily it must be so – You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart – never – never – Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life – Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men – At my age I need a steady, quiet life – can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mail-coach goes every day – therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once – Be calm, only by a calm consideration of our existence can we achieve our purpose to live together – Be calm – love me – today – yesterday – what tearful longings for you – you – you – my life – my all – farewell.

Oh continue to love me – never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.
Ever thine
Ever mine
Ever ours.”

A fantastic Valentines hair tutorial!

In this video a woman will explain how to make a very uncomplicated and yet very cute and original heart-shaped hairstyle. With a bit of imagination, you would be able to make it yourself,e.g. instead of sawing the ribbon, you could add it to the braid at the time when you braid it or wrap around when you finish. And bobby pin it to create the shape of a heart. Really lovely, isn’t it?

Heart-shaped Valentines Braid Tutorial

Ideas for hand-made Valentine cards.

Please refer to the fact that your date is not the only person who may get one. A close friend or a lonely person that you know is also among the list of people who are in need of a little reminder of all that love in the world. Making a card is not as hard as it may seem. Give it a try and you will discover the joy of creativity plus there will be more of your heart in it.  The most simple way is to glue a pretty red ribbon on the cover and clue some multi layered hearts in the center. Drawing and hand-writing is making a huge come-back!

An idea for a gift box project.

A fun project of a Valentines gift box, for something small like candy. Quick, easy and budget-friendly.

I have made many of these boxes in silver and red for Christmas and I can tell you, that one box fits about 3-4 ‘Raffaello’ or a small soap or a tiny package of Skittles. But I would recommend adding less candy/items and instead forming a ‘nest’ on which the candy is going to lie on. This way, it looks neater when you open it. I made that “nest” out of glitter paper, ribbon or tiny piece of velvet.

When: 13th of February, 2012.

Love yourself first and most.

Despite the fuss and rush about finding the perfect partner, organizing a perfect date, preparing the perfect outfit, creating a perfect atmosphere, there are things that in my opinion, are mistakenly overseen. Those things include caring for yourself just as much as for others.

I do not ,by any means, intend to sound like a yoga or self-help instructor. But in my sports activities and elsewhere I often hear people talking about happiness. And followers of a music and dance therapy believe that it is closely related to finding our center. The ‘center’, as I found out, is a psychological and also a physical term to describe a place in your body as well as the a state of mind from where your feelings evolve, grow and come out. Music and dance therapists claim that persons psychological health is directly connected to the physical condition of the body and vice-versa.

You can easily find out more by reading some relevant literature. But my point here is that we should not only care about others and spoil them but also spoil ourselves and love ourselves how we really are. Taking care of yourself may mean living a more active, healthy lifestyle, taking a foam bath just for fun, spending more time by yourself to concentrate on things that are important to you.

So happy Valentines to ourselves! Kisses on the cheeks to everyone! 😉 ❤

Yours truly,

Vaiva K.
